LG will launch its new UltraFine 6K monitor with Thunderbolt 5, which it unveiled at CES in January, on September 30th. The LG UltraFine 6K (32U990A), billed as the world’s first 6K Thunderbolt 5 monitor, is attracting particular attention from Mac users. The monitor is available for pre-order with a price tag of $2000.

The LG UltraFine 32U990A model features a Nano IPS Black panel offering a resolution of 6144 x 3456. According to LG, the monitor covers 99.5% of the Adobe RGB color space and 98% of the DCI-P3 color space.

Thanks to Nano IPS Black technology, the device delivers a contrast ratio of 2000:1, twice as high as standard IPS panels. The monitor has a refresh rate of 60 Hz. Maximum brightness reaches ~600 nits in HDR mode, while SDR brightness remains at 450 nits.

The monitor’s most striking feature, the Thunderbolt 5 connection, provides bandwidth of up to 120 Gbp/s one-way and 80 Gbp/s two-way. This connection also offers 96W of power delivery.

The device can daisy-chain to another 6K display and supports DisplayPort 2.1 bandwidth. Ports include one DisplayPort and one HDMI input, as well as a total of five USB-C ports. However, only two of these USB-C ports support Thunderbolt 5.

The LG 32U990A features a virtually frameless design with its minimalist L-shaped stand. It offers full ergonomic adjustment options, including tilt, pivot, height adjustment, and 90-degree rotation in both directions for portrait mode.

The monitor also receives TÜV Rheinland Eye Comfort certification, which reduces blue light emissions. So, what do you think about this product? You can share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
